After taking pictures of the wife and kids leaving on a cruise ship I clicked the camera on and drove home. Wish I would have had a better way of holding it down.
Bought this 1973 19' Monza Marine boat from a guy in the fall of 2008.
Trailer was sunk up to it's axils in mud, no motor, small tree growing out of the cockpit, then spent the next 9 months fixing it.
Did it as a side project to sell or for something to use when the Nova19 was being fixed and then to sell. Then the Race Boat came along so the 19 rebuild got pushed off as the bottom fell out of the market at the same time so I still have it.
I like the boat and may try to hold on to it. The wife thinks it has a Great Gatsby quality to it.
The boat has the 454 out of the Nova19, Volvo 280 T (with shield) set up like the 19's is, hydraulic steering, etc, etc. I GPS'ed it at 56mph the first 15 minutes I had it out (then the battery in my GPS died) and that was with a aluminum prop and the motor was not tuned. It now has been gone over and also has a Volvo Ultra 24P Left SS prop on it and it is faster. Never did get a chance to see by how much. I guess I will this spring (2011) when I'm giving the 19 a facelift.
Update; A couple weeks after I made this entry a guy offered me more then I could turn down for the boat and she went off to a bright future with new owner up north. Sad to see it go but that's what I got it for.
